The proposal is to fully process the renewal of the term grazing permit on the Sand Springs Allotment (#01066). The current term permit will expire on 9/21/08. The issuance of the term grazing permit would be for 10 years. Total grazing preference for the Sand Springs Allotment is 10,000 AUMs of which 7005 AUMs are active use and 2,995 AUMs are suspended nonuse. The term permit currently authorizes 584 cattle from March 1 to February 28 (yearlong). The Sand Springs Allotment is located in Lincoln County, Nevada. It is approximately 60 miles west of Caliente, Nevada and surrounds the town of Rachel, Nevada. The term grazing permit will be issued in accordance with Title 43 CFR 4130.2(a), "Grazing permits or leases authorize use on the public lands and other BLM-administered lands that are designated in land use plans as available for livestock grazing."
