The proposed action would be to develop a managed OHV trail system in the Egan Range, south of Ely, NV. Approximately 84 miles of designated trail opportunities including a trailhead that would accommodate day-use, camping, and a practice loop would be available for OHV users through this action. Five major segments of new trail construction, two re-routes, and a trailhead with dispersed camping and a practice loop have been identified as necessary components to the trail system This would be accomplished by constructing approximately 25 miles of new trail designed specifically for the OHV user that would connect existing roads. Existing roads would be re-routed around sensitive areas, known noxious weed infestations would be treated, and roads that are unsafe or unsuitable for OHV travel will be eliminated. This would create several loop trails that would meet the needs of the OHV recreating public.
