The proposed action is to construct approximately 4.3 miles of fence along the west side of the Lackawanna Road right of way boundary. The fence would connect to an existing fence and cattleguard on the south end and proceed northwest into Smith Valley, west of the Cross Timbers Subdivision. The fence would connect with the Ely State Prison fence. Completion of the proposed fence would prevent cattle drift from the Georgetown Ranch Allotment onto the Lackawanna Road and private property in the Cross Timbers Subdivision.

The need for the proposal is to reduce and/or eliminate a potential safety hazard (collision between vehicles and cattle on the Lackawanna Road) and eliminate potential conflicts between private property owners in the Cross Timbers Subdivision.
