SALE OF OROVADA PUBLIC LAND RESCHEDULED

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Winnemucca Field Office is pleased to announce that the sale of 880 acres of public land near Orovada, Nevada that was postponed on August 18th has been scheduled for October 25 and 26. The delay resulted from a protest received from a member of the public. That protest has now been resolved.

Provisions for sales of public land are found at 43 CFR 2710. A synopsis of the two-phase bidding process is as follows.

Sealed Bids:
The sealed bids must be received at the BLM Winnemucca Field Office by Monday, October 25, 2004 by no later than 4:30 p.m. Pacific Daylight Saving Time. The bid envelopes will be opened on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight Saving Time at the Winnemucca Field Office. Sealed bids must be accompanied by a down payment of 20% of the bid amount, fully refundable if the bid is not successful in being declared the highest qualified bid. The mailing address is:

Oral Auction:
On Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight Saving Time, approximately two hours after the opening of the sealed bids, the oral auction shall be held at the Winnemucca Field Office (see address above).

After oral bidding is completed, the highest qualifying bid, whether sealed or oral, shall be declared. Immediately following the close of the sale, the person declared to have entered the highest qualified bid shall submit payment of not less than one-fifth (20%) of the amount of the bid.

All payments must be by cash, personal check, bank draft, money order, or any combination thereof. The successful bidder, whether through sealed or oral bid, shall remit the remainder of the purchase price within 180 days from the sale date.
