HISTORIC MINE LIGHTING DEVICES NEEDED FOR VISITOR CENTER EXHIBIT

The Winnemucca Convention and Visitor Authority, in cooperation with the Bureau of Land Management, Winnemucca Field Office, is planning an exhibit of historic mine lighting devices for display in the Winnemucca Visitors Center located at 50 W. Winnemucca Blvd., Winnemucca, Nevada. 

The exhibit will highlight the technological development of these devices through the 1860 – 1940 period and will include miners’ candlesticks, oil wick lamps, carbide lamps, early safety lamps, and associated accessories as well as photographs, patent drawings and historic advertising. Items from the Winnemucca area are of particular interest.
