GLAMIS MARIGOLD MINE – MILLENNIUM EXPANSION PROJECT

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Winnemucca Field Office announces the availability for public review of the final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (FSEIS) analyzing impacts from the proposed Glamis Marigold Mining Company’s (Marigold) Millennium Expansion Project. The FSEIS was made available for public review at the BLM’s Winnemucca Field Office on December 5, 2003.

The proposed project would expand gold mining activities at the Marigold Mine located three miles south of Valmy in Humboldt County, Nevada. The project would disturb approximately 1,474 acres and would include expansion of two existing open pits, an existing waste rock storage area and existing ancillary facilities, and create five new open pits, two new heap leach facilities, new waste rock storage areas, and new ancillary facilities within the project area.

The review period ends January 5, 2004. Copies of the FSEIS can also be reviewed on-line (49 MB Acrobat file). To receive further information or to submit comments, please contact Winnemucca Field Office Environmental Protection Specialist Jeff Johnson at (775) 623-1500.
