ATTENTION CHUKAR HUNTERS: DESERT MOTORCYCLE RACE, SUNDAY OCTOBER 19TH, BEGINNING IN THE SOUTHERN END OF THE SOUTH JACKSON MOUNTAINS

The Bureau of Land Management, Winnemucca Field Office, has issued a Special Recreation Permit to Ron Dillon, of Wild Rockies, Inc., to conduct the Winnemucca National Hare and Hound Motorcycle Race on Sunday, October 19, 2003 beginning at 10 a.m. The course will begin approximately 1.5 miles north of the Bottle Creek Road/Jungo Road intersection, on Jungo Flats and travel through the southern end of the South Jackson Mountains near the Donna Schee Spring area. Course monitors will be in place to direct traffic on both Jungo and Bottle Creek Roads.

The route will also travel through the Donna Schee Peak area, continuing east of Blue Mountain, crossing and traveling near Jungo Road, continuing south on the west side of Little Flattop Mountain, crossing the Humboldt River, continuing on private lands, and ending under the Interstate 80 overpass on US Highway 95.

For safety reasons chukar hunters and all of the public are asked to please exercise caution in traveling on these roads and to limit off road use in the above areas on Sunday, October 19th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For further information please contact Barb Keleher, BLM Recreation Planner, at 775-623-1515.
