Public Scoping - Open Houses (May 2-5, 2005)
Public Scoping
"Scoping" is the process early in a project of determining the scope of public concerns, desires, or issues by gathering initial input from a wide variety of sources, including government agencies, tribal organizations, interest groups, and individuals. This process helps the BLM to better understand the nature and extent of issues and impacts to be addressed in the RMP and the methods by which they will be examined. The official scoping period began with the publication of the Notice of Intent to prepare the Winnemucca RMP in the Federal Register began on March 25, 2005, and ended on May 24, 2005.
During the scoping period, the BLM held open houses in Winnemucca, Lovelock, Gerlach, and Reno, where the public was encouraged to attend to learn about the project and planning process and to meet BLM representatives.
